The forward has been in sensational form since joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day, scoring seven goals in his first eight appearances.
Villa do not have an option to buy Asensio included in the loan agreement, meaning they would have to negotiate a transfer fee should they want to sign the Spain international permanently.
But Emery says any decision on Asensio and fellow loan stars Axel Disasi and Marcus Rashford can wait, with the manager instead keen to focus on the pivotal matches ahead for his team.
Villa are fighting on three fronts this season and have an FA Cup quarter-final at Preston on Sunday, ahead of key Premier League clashes and a Champions League showdown with Asensio’s parent club.
Emery said: “I think it is not now the moment for it. I think it is not the right time to speak about it.
“Of course he is performing very well, of course we are happy. But still two months to play, a lot of things.
“It is not now, because two years ago I was calling him to bring him as well. It means always he was in my mind.
“But football is changing so, so quick. We have to play on Sunday, we have to play on Wednesday, we have to play next Saturday, we have to play in the Champions League and PSG.”
Villa head to Paris for the first leg of their Champions League tie on April 9, with the return on April 15.
Emery continued: “We have to try to focus now on the matches we are facing because it is not the same if we are getting our objectives or not. It is not the same.
“I want the best of Disasi, I want the best of Donyell Malen, I want the best of Andres Garcia, I want the best of Rashford, I want the best of Marco.
“And then each individual issue we are going to try to analyse and to take the decision. But the time is not coming for the next week or even month.”
