The Netherlands international will be in the squad when Villa head to the Emirates targeting a fourth straight win in all competitions.

Malen became the club’s first signing of the January window when he arrived in a £21million move from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week and Emery believes he can provide his team with added bite in attack.

“We are excited as well as how he can help us,” said the Villa boss. “He is coming in, changing with Jaden Philogene. Hopefully we can get his best.”

Malen was in the stands to see Villa win 1-0 at Everton on Wednesday night, a result which moved them up to seventh in the Premier League.

Philogene’s move to Ipswich, for a fee which could eventually rise to £23m, was confirmed shortly after the final whistle.

Further business is expected with Emery targeting at least one more signing before the window closes. Strengthening Villa’ defence is now the priority but incomings will be dependent on outgoings with Diego Carlos a target for Galatasaray.
