The 23-year-old Scotland international seems destined to depart Easter Road this summer, with Celtic heavily linked with a move for the midfielder.

Villa have entered into talks with the player ahead of a potential move, although a fee is yet to be agreed with his current club.

The former St. Mirren man made the move to Hibs in 2015, and has made more than 100 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals.

He had been subject of several bids from Scottish champions Celtic this summer - all of which were rejected.

But now Steve Bruce has decided to firm up his interest, with McGinn arriving at Bodymoor Heath for talks regarding a potential move.

Shortlisted for PFA Scotland Player of the Year last season, McGinn is capable of playing on the left side of midfield but prefers a central role.

Reports suggest that both Hibernian and McGinn favour a move to the Championship as opposed to staying north of the border.

Villa have until 5pm on Thursday to sign players on permanent deals, with Bruce able to complete loans until August 31.

There are fears of Jack Grealish leaving B6 ahead of this week's deadline, with the boss admitting he faces a 'fraught' few days as Villa look to cling on to their prized asset amid interest from Tottenham.
