Reports: Aston Villa have bid accepted for Bristol City defender Joe Bryan
Aston Villa have had a bid accepted for highly-rated Bristol City left-back, Joe Bryan - according to reports.
The 24-year-old full-back is set to depart Ashton Gate this summer, with a number of clubs being linked with a move, and Villa are one of two teams to reportedly agree a fee with the Robins for his services.
Middlesbrough are the second side reported to be battling with Villa, with the decision now down to the player as to which team he joins.
Both Villa and Boro are thought to have had bids of approximately £5m accepted by Bristol.
Villa's financial situation has improved dramatically following fresh investment in the club from Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, who are now majority owners of the club.
It was previously thought that Steve Bruce would only be able to bring in loan or free signings this summer, with a cash crisis striking at B6 earlier this summer.
Now it seems that Villa are willing to bolster in yet another attempt to secure promotion to the Premier League, having already signed Andre Moreira on-loan, and edging closer to a move for fellow goalkeeper Orjan Nyland from German Second Division outfit FC Ingolstadt.
Bryan made 48 appearances for Bristol City last season, scoring seven goals. He's also capable of playing in a more advanced position on the left of midfield, and could fit into a 3-5-2 formation, which Steve Bruce used extensively throughout pre-season.
He'd provide competition for Neil Taylor and Alan Hutton, both of whom featured at left back under Bruce last season.
