As reported earlier this week, Villa hosted a behind closed doors friendly, in which two first-team players continued their recovery from injury.

Striker Jonathan Kodjia, who netted 19 goals last season, featured for 45 minutes, whilst winger Andre Green also featured for a half.

The game went ahead at Bodymoor Heath against League One opposition in Peterborough United.

Meanwhile, full-back Alan Hutton also made his return to full training following a hamstring injury picked up in the 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday last month.

Kodjia is continuing his recovery from a serious ankle injury, which has limited him to just eight appearances and one goal this season for the Villans. The injury was a recurrence of the broken ankle he fell victim to during last season's run-in.

It's still unlikely that the Ivorian will feature again this season, with Bruce unwilling to rush him back once again and risk another recurrence of the troublesome problem.

Green is battling back from a hamstring problem, although it's unrelated to the surgery he had earlier this season which ruled him out for more than three months.

Hutton's recovery will come as a sizeable positive for Bruce, with the Scot standing out in an unfamiliar left-back role throughout this campaign, and with Neil Taylor also missing out against Bolton with groin problem. James Bree stepped in for the 1-0 defeat.

The club next face Hull City on March 31st, before a home clash with Reading takes precedent three days later.
