Steve Bruce is set to sign the versatile 29-year-old for the third time, after previously bringing him to both Sunderland and Hull.

Elmohamady left Hull's training camp in Portugal today after Villa triggered the release clause in his Tigers contract. He is expected to undergo a medical tomorrow.

The wing-back is in line to become Bruce's third signing of the summer following the capture of John Terry and goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

But Bruce is still trying to off-load several of his players, including Jordan Amavi, Jordan Veretout, and Tommy Elphick.

Birmingham City boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly interested in Elphick, meaning the former captain may end up at Villa's rivals this summer.
