Four-some Victoria move a point behind leaders

Victoria fired four past AFC Bradmore to pile the pressure on league leaders Belgrade, writes Dan Hickey.

Their 2-2 draw with Connaught United means Victoria are only a point behind in Wolverhampton & District Sunday League Division One after winning 4-1.

Jack Arrowsmith, Craig Bannister, Joe Clarke and Daniel Scragg all added to Victoria’s scoreline.

Lee Gray scored a brace for Belgrade, but it wasn’t enough as Luke Brown and Amrik Sanghera also scored for Connaught. 

Fourth battered third as AFC Jacks came away 5-1 winners against Emerald Athletic. 

Emerald’s only goal came from Alex Lee Ryder.Warstones Wanderers AFC won a relegation six-pointer against Shepwell Wanderers to move three points clear of bottom. Warstones’ Dalvir Rai opened the scoring and Omar Haughton got a brace before Craig Chirata scored the winner in the 89th minute.

In Division Two, Barnhurst Lane Lions remain unbeaten with a 4-2 win away against second-placed AFC Willenhall. The home side’s Dan Hopson bagged a brace, while Lions’ goals came from Reuben Aldridge, Joshua Baloucone and Nathan Jackson. 

Mark Giles got a brace in the Tettenhall’s derby as they beat Tettenhall Athletic 4-0. Jack Hague and Jaydon Bradley also scored as Tettenhall climb to fourth. 

Balls to Cancer drew 2-2 with Warstones Wanderers WN netted scored through Rodney Williams and substitute Connor Forrester.

AFC Wolves’ Darrell Gillett fired home a hat-trick in their 7-1 demolition of Viking United. Christopher Foster netted Viking’s solitary goal, while Liam Smith got a brace and Connor Archer and Joshua Fellows also scored.

Pelsall Cricket & Sports Club and Portobello Rangers both netted five in their 5-2 and 5-3 wins. Reiss Banks got a hat-trick for Pelsall, while James Bland and Josh Chambers also netted past Ashmore Park Rangers RBL. Shamar Lewis and Aaron Wormington scored for Ashmore.

Portobello conceded one to AFC White Horse’s Jonathan Benham and two to Ryan Goodman, but found the net through Kenjy Camara, Brian Ncube, Callum Rachel, Luke Simons and Michael Nana. White Horse’s Grant Timmins got sent off at 88 minutes.

Bradmore Social are three points behind Portobello after their 2-0 win against Walsall Swifts, while HTFC beat AFC Perton 3-0 and Mental Health drew 1-1 with Junction.

In Division Four, Bushbury Hill put eight past Mental Health Lions, to win 8-2, while Dudley Rangers United beat Spartan Athletic 3-1.DY United overcame Pattingham Panthers 2-0 in the first round of the Tom Bird Cup with goals from Samuel Baker and Adam Skeldon, while Codsall Wanderers won 3-0 at Gunmakers thanks to Jai Banga, Max Moore and Oliver Wood.

Mental Health Sports beat AFC Huntsmen courtesy of strikes from Thomas Kennedy, Devante Clark and Dale Rogers, while Sporting Codsall needed a penalty shootout to get past Black Country Phoenix. 

Matthew Criddle had scored for Sporting and Sam Butler for Black Country in a 1-1 draw.And in the first round of the BP Roberts Cup, Tyler Goodyear, Ryan Piggott and Connor Stokes helped Black Country Blades edge past KT Wanderers, 3-2.
