Job Description
Title: Digital Football journalist (paid internship) - part time
Duties: Writing interesting and compelling football content alongside the Expressandstar.com and Shropshirestar.com digital team.
Producing and enhancing copy with interactive content including video and social media.
Assisting in matchday coverage with the opportunity to cover live games at Wolves, West Brom, Walsall, Aston Villa and Shrewsbury.
Video production on location and from within the newsroom.
Assisting in the company's increased push for digital content.
Essential skills:
Strong writing ability and impeccable grammar.
Strong football knowledge (especially in the local area)
Basic video and audio production.
Strong understanding of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Desirable skills:
Newsroom experience
Experience of covering live football
Confident video editor
Knowledge of html
Understanding of Chartbeat and Google Analytics
The person:
Must be flexible and able to work weekends/unsociable hours, due to the nature of the role.
A quick thinker with the ability to react to newsworthy information.
Strong communication skills.
Preferably a football fan who has core knowledge of the game.
Full driving licence and car.
