'The Wanderer' was taken out on the bull after 'Chizzy' marked a resurgence with victory at the City West Hotel in Dublin last night, live on Sky Sports.

It's Chisnall who now goes on to face Grand Prix title holder Michael van Gerwen, but he was put through some nervy moments from a spirited Jones.

Both players hit 180s in the opening leg but Jones whitewashed Chisnall in the first set, finishing on double 16 to break the throw and move ahead.

The Black Country darter held his position to take the second leg and took out 93 on double 16 to claim the set without reply. Then Chisnall got off the mark.

The St Helens ace landed tops in the opening leg and posted double 10 to move 2-0 up, but paid for missed doubles to clean up the second set.

Jones finished on double 12 to hit back but Chisnall posted another maximum in leg four and finished on double 16 to claim the set and level the game.

Jones capitalises on missed doubles to win the third set's opener, but Chisnall hit double 10 and double 16 to move 2-1 up before a third maximum in leg four.

A miss at double 16 from Jones, for a 104 finish, was seized upon by Chisnall to take out 112 on the bullseye for the set. With the fourth set, the match was his.

Chisnall punished Jones for missing 11 on starting doubles, as he landed double 18 to win the opening leg. He hit the same bed to complete an 87 combination in the second.

It was Jones who finished 67 on double 16 to stay in the hunt, but Chisnall was first to a finish in the fourth leg and took out 64 on double eight to seal a superb comeback.

Jones had made the second round on Tuesday night with a straight sets win and revenge on Mervyn King , who beat him in the German Darts Masters last month.
