Nick Fullwell misses out on Germany in PDC
Stourbridge's Nick Fullwell missed out on a spot at the PDC's German Darts Masters tournament in September after losing in the final qualifier.
Rugeley's Mark Hylton and Brierley Hill's Mark Jones didn't make it past their first qualifiers, with both defeated in the second round on Friday night.
Young duo Matthew Dennant, from Bloxwich, and Wednesbury's Matthew Dicken also left the Barnsley Metrodome disappointed after falling short.
Players had to progress past the third round to claim places at the event in Sindelfingen from September 20-22, where £100,000 in prize money is up-for-grabs.
And Fullwell got that far only to be beaten 6-4 by Kevin McDine, after 'the Hero' had started his evening in style with a 6-0 second round whitewash of Lee Whitworth.
The luck of the draw didn't favour either Hylton or Jones, the former landing Steve West as the latter was paired with former BDO world championship finalist Dean Winstanley.
Hylton couldn't force a last leg decider but had his chances against West, who recently reached the last 16 of the UK Open, while Jones lost by the same margin to Winstanley.
Both Dennant and Dicken had to come through the first round and play three times on the night, which they did so comprehensively to keep their dreams of Germany alive.
Dennant saw off Dan Russell 6-2 but come unstuck against Paul Amos, who was clinical when it mattered most to surge ahead of the 20-year-old and onto a 6-3 success.
Dicken dropped just a leg in a 6-1 victory over Paul Anthony but then came across John Bowles, who reached the last 32 of the PDC World Championship last year, and lost 6-3.
