Rileys Sports Bars staged the deciders at their Broad Street venue on Saturday and Edhouse took the trophy, beating Newport's Phil Daniels 7-5 in the final.

A nip and tuck final went the way of the in-form Edhouse, from South Benfleet, who hit five 180s over the course of the day as he went up the gears.

Rushden's James Richardson, who beat Raymond van Barneveld in the first round of the PDC World Championship two years ago, lost in the quarter-finals.

Richardson lost in the last leg to Worcester's Michael Marshall, who made the last 32 of the BDO World Championship in 1998, and bowed out in a 5-4 defeat.

Former West Midlands county captain Ian Jones, from Tipton, missed a spot in the final after a 6-4 semi-final defeat to Edhouse, who also had it tough in the last 32.

Edhouse put out Peterborough's Dennis Harbour 4-2 despite his opponent hitting a 10-dart leg as Stourbridge's Nick Fullwell, a PDC pro, lost 4-3 in the last leg to Daniels.

A £3,250 prize pot was shared on the final day, with cash winnings for all of the last 32. Every player had earned their spot in Wolverhampton through regional qualifiers.

Rileys Masters tournament director Ben Pearce said: "The final was a spectacular showpiece to such a great event and we had a 10-darter from Dennis Harbour.

"All in all, there were 40 180s hit on the day and James Richardson landed 10 maximums in just four matches. It shows there is a great standard of players in Rileys' Darts Zones."

Rileys now launch their second Darts Masters tournament today and have again guaranteed over £20,000 in prize money.

Regional qualifiers starting in September and the national finals will be held in November.
