'The Wanderer' bounced back from Saturday's second round defeat, 6-3 to Ronnie Baxter, after opening his account with a 6-4 victory over Kevin Painter.

Jones was back at the oche at the Robin Park Centre in Wigan for yesterday's second tournament and sat out the first round, after receiving a bye from the draw.

The 47-year-old then embarked on three straight 6-4 wins that put out Dutchman Leon de Geus, the talented Dean Winstanley and Irish hopeful William O'Connor.

But Jones then came across Kim Huybrechts, who put out Rugeley's Mark Hylton in the fourth round, and lost 6-3 but still banked £600 in winnings for his efforts.

Huybrechts reached the final, losing 6-5 in the last leg to Michael van Gerwen. Jones remains 31st in the PDC Order of Merit today.

Hylton banked £400 for his efforts after reaching the fourth round on Sunday.

'Mile High' - a former airline cabin crew manager - was first at the oche in Saturday's event and started fast with a 6-3 victory over David Dodds.

But a tough second round draw against world No 10 Dave Chisnall went against him, 'Chizzy' coming out on top by 6-2 as Hylton came off second best.

The 46-year-old returned to the same venue for yesterday's second tournament and received a bye past the first round, then beating John Scott by 6-2.

That took Hylton into the money stages and a 6-3 win over Rocco Maes doubled his money, before another tough draw paired him with Kim Huybrechts.

Huybrechts saw him off 6-3. Hylton remains 36th in the PDC Order of Merit today.

Brierley Hill's Mark Jones missed out on the money stages and returned home empty handed.

Jones never made it past his opening match despite receiving a bye past the first round in Saturday's event, failing to keep up with Jason Hogg who won 6-3.

'Little Mon' returned to the same venue for yesterday's second tournament and fared better in a close-contest against Dave Ladley, progressing with a 6-4 victory.

But he came unstuck despite pushing Dutchman Alex Roy all of the way, losing 6-5 in the last leg. Nonetheless, Jones remains 62nd in the PDC Order of Merit today.

Stourbridge's Nick Fullwell made it to the last 16 and banked £1,000 for his weekend's work. Fullwell did his best work in Saturday's event.

He enjoyed a bye past the first round before swiftly seeing off Matt Clark and Connie Finnan, by 6-3 and 6-5 respectively.

Another last leg success, 6-5 over Serbian Mensur Suljovic, propelled him into the fifth round but he came off second best to world No 11 Gary Anderson, losing 6-3.

Fullwell was back at the same venue for yesterday's tournament and was extended to the last leg in the first round against Jani Haavisto, before coming out on top 6-5.

The 43-year-old was again pushed all of the way by Andrew Gilding but he won 6-5 and he excelled in a third round match against Joey Palfreyman, the victor by 6-2.

That put Fullwell to within a game of matching Saturday's run but he was defeated in the fourth round, another last leg battle, going out to Ronny Huybrechts by 6-5.

He rises a place to 68th in the PDC Order of Merit as a result of his winnings for competing in the non-televised events.

Wednesbury's Matthew Dicken managed to win his first match on the PDC Pro Tour during Saturday's UK Open qualifier.

Dicken has made a name for himself on the Youth Tour, putting out reigning world youth champions Arron Monk and James Hubbard in successive years.

The 20-year-old is now attempting to step up to the seniors and gave a good account of himself against Keith Rooney on Saturday, before going out by 6-4.

Dicken was back at the same venue for yesterday's second tournament and experienced a much-welcome success, taking victory in the last leg over Sean Ryan 6-5.

But Peter Hudson proved to be a step too far for the young Black Country darter, as he was on the end of a 6-2 defeat. A win would have taken him into the money stages.

Bloxwich's Matthew Dennant was given an education by Huybrechts in the second event.

The Youth Tour regular's step up to the seniors continued but opened in defeat and ended his Saturday for the 21-year-old, Sean Ryan winning 6-3 in the first round.

Dennant returned to the oche at the same venue for yesterday's second tournament and experienced success against Daniel Day, progressing through with a 6-3 win.

But Huybrechts gave him little in the second round, dropping just a leg in a 6-1 victory.
