'The Wanderer' will face No 1 seed Dave Chisnall in the first round of the tournament, which starts on Friday at Butlins in Minehead, live on ITV4.

Jones banked £800 in the final Pro Tour events over the weekend and reached the third round twice, only to lose 6-1 to Michael van Gerwen both times!

On Saturday, the 47-year-old overcame Alex Roy 6-2 to make it into the money stages and then beat Darrell Claydon 6-1 at the Barnsley Metrodome.

Yesterday, the Wednesfield darter flew out of the blocks to whitewash Paul Rowley 6-0 and then pipped Daniel Day 6-5 to again draw van Gerwen.

Jones made the top 32 of the Pro Tour Order of Merit by £400, ahead of the unlucky Dean Winstanley in 33rd, who switched from the BDO this year.

Brierley Hill's Mark Jones felt 'the Power' in the last Pro Tour event of the year with a second round defeat to 15-time world champion Phil Taylor.

Jones had won his first game of the weekend in edging out Matthew Edgar in a last leg decider by 6-5 to get there, but lost 6-3 to Taylor in the next phase.

Both Jones and Stourbridge's Nick Fullwell went out in the first round in Saturday's tournament, Jones losing 6-2 to Brian Woods.

Fullwell lost 6-3 to Peter Hudson but the Stourbridge darter also made it to the second round yesterday after beating John Scott 6-0.

But he was whitewashed himself when he came up against reigning UK Open champion Robert Thornton.

That helped Fullwell to a final place of 60th in the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit with £6,000 of winnings, while Jones was 46th with £7,000.
