Wolverhampton's Wayne Jones went up against the man who ended his dreams of Grand Slam glory last year at a darts exhibition.
Jones locked horns with 'the Bull' Terry Jenkins, fellow Grand Slam competitor Steve Beaton and Andy Smith at Wolverhampton Racecourse.
Last night's event precedes the start of the eight-day PDC Grand Slam at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.
Both Jones and Jenkins advanced from the group stages last year and met in the first knockout stages, where 'the Wanderer' slipped up.
Jones let an 8-6 lead slip to lose 10-8, despite hitting four 180s on the way and he also missed a dart at double 16 to level the game at 9-9.
The two could meet at the same stage this time, as well, with Jenkins in Group G and Jones in Group H, which both start on Sunday afternoon.
Tickets for the Grand Slam of Darts, again sponsored by William Hill, are still available by calling 0870 320 7000.
Alternatively you can buy tickets online www.wolvescivic.co.uk or by visiting the Civic Box Office in Queen Square.
