Wednesbury's Matthew Dicken reached a quarter-final as he picked up £150 in the latest legs of the PDC Youth Tour in Barnsley.

Dicken won £100 on Saturday but his run was ended by former world youth champion Arron Monk at the Barnsley Metrodome.

That 4-0 whitewash was his final game in the second of three events over the weekend, coupled with first and third round exits.

His first trip to the oche on Saturday was to play Curtis Bagley and it was not the start he was looking for, winning just a leg in a 4-1 defeat.

But Dicken fared better in the second event against Callum Carr and a match that went all of the seven legs went his way, winning 4-3.

Dicken took command in his next game and put out Nathan Street by 4-1, putting him into the money stages of the third round.

Another last leg win took him past Daniel Wood by 4-3 and into the fourth round, where he whitewashed Keegan Brown by 4-0.

The tables were turned when he faced Monk but Dicken was back for yesterday's final tournament, receiving a bye into the second round.

A 4-1 win over Ben Songhurst took him, again, into the money stages and he took £50 despite a 4-1 third round defeat to Ryan Harrington.

Wolverhampton's Ash Khayat went home potless as the best he could muster was two second round runs over the three events.

Khayat's first trip to the oche, like Dicken, ended in defeat although he extended Kacey Jones to the seventh and last leg before losing 4-3.

A stroke of luck gave him a bye into the second round in the second tournament of the day but Khayat couldn't captialise against Lewis Venes.

A 4-2 defeat ended his day but the 19-year-old came back revitalised for yesterday's final event and whitewashed Bagley 4-0.

But 'Sully,' again, fell one step short of the money stages and won just a leg against Kurt Parry, his weekend ending in a 4-1 defeat.
