Wolverhampton's Wayne Jones bowed out of the PDC's latest European tour event in the second round - despite hitting five 180s in one match.

'The Wanderer' lost 6-3 to Mervyn King on Saturday afternoon at the Tempodrom in Berlin, Germany with finishing again the catalyst for defeat.

Jones' five maximums, in the end, counted for nothing but King had to be at the top of his game to see off the Black Country darter at the oche.

King led 1-0 before an equalising leg from Jones but he trailed again at 2-1 although he was close to levelling again after being left with 24.

A brilliant 161 checkout from King left that notion in tatters and he went on to make it 4-1, before Jones pulled a leg back for 4-2.

King then moved within one leg of the match and left Jones 5-1 down but the 47-year-old hung in there after responding for 5-3.

However, King took the match 6-3 after the last leg and went on to beat PDC world youth champion James Hubbard 6-4 in the third round.

Dave Chisnall ended his challenge with a 6-4 win in the quarter-finals and reached the final, losing 6-2 to Phil 'the Power' Taylor.
