The 'Box & Study' programme will begin in September this year.

The two–year course gives students the opportunity to be coached and developed by British Boxing Board of Control licensed boxers, while studying for their qualifications.

Working alongside Walsall College, BCB aims to deliver the programme for aspiring boxers in the area.

The students will study for a BTEC in sport, YMCA Diploma in sport or a Diploma in health and fitness – depending on their GCSE results – while training three times a week alongside professional boxers at BCB's headquarters in Wednesbury.

A BCB statement read: "If you are between the ages of 16–19 and looking to train and compete at a high level of boxing, as well as pursuing a potential career in the sports industry, our ‘Box & Study’ programme is perfect for you.

"For further information, or to enroll on the course for September 2020, please register here: www.walsallcollege.ac.uk/all-subjects/sport-courses.

"Select the BTEC or YMCA in Sport and click ‘apply now’ and complete the online form: applications.walsallcollege.ac.uk/SignIn.aspx?CourseID=332000852624736.

"Stipulate BCB 'Box & Study' where it asks 'Please list any other subjects you might want to improve skills in as well as your main course of study'.

"You will then begin the enrolment process."
