Italian job done for Sam Eggington
Black Country boxer Sam Eggington has added another belt to his collection after defeating an Italian Orlando Fiordigiglio in his own backyard.
The 25-year-old unleashed a flurry of punches on Fiordigiglio in the second round at the Tuscany Hall in Florence on Thursday night.
It was Fiordigiglio’s first defence of his IBF International Super-Welterweight title but Eggington made short work of the 35-year-old, who is ranked fifth on the IBF Super-Welterweight world rankings.
A number of short and swift right hands left Fiordigiglio out on his feet before Eggington began to rain down the punches.
The Italian was saved by the referee who called the fight off while he was still standing.
Eggington, known as ‘The Savage’, now puts himself in line for bigger opportunties on the world stage.
