Langford v Cunningham is best of British
Tommy Langford and Craig Cunningham will travel across the Midlands to do battle for the British middleweight title.
The two are West Midlands based but will be heading east to contest Langford's crown in his first title defence,
They take top billing for Frank Warren's show at the Leicester Community Arena on Saturday April 22, which is likely to be broadcast on both BoxNation and BT Sport.
Unbeaten Langford claimed the British strap with a points win over Sam Sheedy in November, after Chris Eubank Jnr vacated the honours rather than face him.
Langford has now also relinquished the Commonwealth title, which will now be contested by Sheedy and Abolaji Rasheed in March, as well as the WBO Inter-Continental bauble.
'The Baggies Bomber,' 27, was born in Bideford, Devon, but has settled in Birmingham, striking up a rapport with West Bromwich Albion.
The Premier League club regularly show their support for him through their media channels and allow him to use their facilities.
He's ranked No 2 by the WBO and is unbeaten with a flawless record of 18 wins from 18 bouts, containing six stoppages.
Cunningham is a Brummie living in Oldbury and is riding the crest of a wave after an upset victory over Olympic bronze medallist and undefeated pro Anthony Ogogo last October.
The 28-year-old southpaw claimed the WBC International middleweight title, dropping Ogogo and fracturing his eye socket before an eighth round retirement.
It came in Birmingham at the Barclaycard Arena with Sky Sports screening the fight live, on a bill promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom company.
The left-hander was also named the Boxer of the Year at the British Boxing Board of Control's Midlands area council annual awards earlier that month.
Cunningham became a two-weight area champion prior to that, outpointing Jason Welborn for the super welter belt after successfully defending his middleweight standing against Ryan Aston.
He has 17 wins from 18 paid contests, with four stoppages including Ogogo and Aston along with Danny Brown and Gilson de Jesus.
Both fighters train out of Birmingham, Langford training under Tom Chaney at Hall Green while Cunningham is with Jon Pegg at Eastside.
Ticket details will be announced for the Leicester show in due course, including prices and where to buy directly online.
