Academy boss and former attacker appointed new Stourbridge manager
Stourbridge have moved quickly to replace departed manager Liam McDonald by appointing academy boss Darryl Knights to the top job.
McDonald jumped ship at the weekend after talks with the club amid uncertainty over their ground and finances.
The former Hednesford Town, Solihull Moors and Rushall Olympic boss had been in charge for 13 months and led the Glassboys to finish of ninth in the Southern Premier Central.
Stourbridge chiefs have been working to find solutions at the troubled War Memorial Ground, which has safety concerns around stands and floodlights, which need removing.
However, Knights has at least eased their concerns over team affairs, by agreeing to take over as first team coach alongside his academy role.
Knights said: “Stourbridge is my club and I’ve been lucky enough to be part of it for a number of years meaning I know it inside out. For me, its a privilege to be given the opportunity to manage this fantastic club.
“I want to be the man to bring the good times back and put smiles back on the fans' faces along with my management team who all share the same passion and ambition as me for the club. I’m excited and can’t wait to get started.”
