The Argentina international’s stunning stop in December’s 2-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest is one of 10 saves shortlisted for the prize.

Martinez showed remarkable reflexes to claw Nicolas Dominguez’s header off the line when the latter appeared certain to put Forest ahead.

Jhon Duran then headed Villa in front but the visitors were unable to hold on to their lead and ended up beaten by two late goals.

Martinez’s stop won the league’s save of the month award for December, the first time he had claimed the prize in his career.

Arsenal’s David Raya and Bournemouth’s Kepa Arrizabalaga are also up for the save of the season for remarkable double stops against Villa.

Duran, who left Villa in January to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr in a deal which could eventually be worth more than £70million, has himself been shortlisted for the Premier League’s goal of the season award.

The Colombia international’s thumping 30-yard winner in September’s 3-2 victory over Everton is one of 10 goals nominated.

Supporters can vote in both awards online, with the polls due to close on Friday evening.
