Mowbray was the 14th manager Albion have sacked in the last 25 years - and the 18th boss in total to take over at the club during the last two and a half decades.

As the search is believed to be coming to a conclusion, what can the new Albion boss expect in terms of longevity in the job when he takes over in the Hawthorns hotseat.

Since 2000, there have been been 14 managerial casualties at The Hawthorns.

The longest serving Baggies boss to be given the boot was Gary Megson, who took charge of 221 games, with Tony Pulis behind him in second place, having managed 121 before being axed.

On the other end of the scale, Mowbray's second stint in charge of the club was the lowest and equalled by Pepe Mel's 17 game uninspiring reign, despite being part of the management team that kept Albion up in the Premier League.

During this time period, there are four managers who departed without being sacked.

Mowbray's first spell ended with him departing for Celtic, while Roy Hodgson left his post to take the England job.

Later on, Sam Allardyce departed of his own accord following relegation from the top flight, while Carlos Corberan left the club having taken charge of just over 100 games.

But in terms of sacked managers, how long do they last?

On average, since 2000, the year Brian Little was axed and Megson took over, the average game span of a West Brom manager is 61 games.

That equates to around just over a season and a half in the job, before a manager is shown the exit door.
