Interim boss James Morrison has backed Tammer Bany to make his mark for Albion next season after a frustrating start in English football.

The midfielder was limited to just four substitute appearances after joining from Randers for a fee of around £3.3million on the final day of the winter transfer window, having struggled with injury.

But Morrison is confident the Baggies will see the best of the 21-year-old Dane in his first full campaign at The Hawthorns.

Bany was linked with a host of clubs including Celtic before Albion swooped for his signature and Morrison says he shares the excitement of former boss Tony Mowbray in the player’s potential.

He said: "I've got the same views. I'm excited to see him get a good pre-season.

“It's always hard coming in during January, he was in the middle of his off-season as well.

"I think he'll have the frustration inside that it didn't go better for him fitness-wise. But he'll be one to watch next year.”

Albion sporting director Andrew Nestor described Bany as a player who could be a mainstay of the squad “for now and future years” when his signing was sealed in early February.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, he can also play up front of required.

Morrison said: "I wouldn't say he's your typical number 10, he's tenacious, runs, tackles from the front. I can't wait to see him."
