The side, led by former Derbyshire batter Callum Brodrick, amassed a whopping 330-7 after being put into bat by the visitors.

Brodrick himself made a sparkling 105 from 76 balls, while fellow former Derbyshire batter Scott Elstone also produced a scintillating century - 136 off 84 balls.

After taking some punishment, the Cannock batters were sent out to try and chase down the huge total, which never looked likely.

Brodrick then picked 3-9 from his four overs and one ball as Cannock were all out for 165, only getting halfway to their target.

Wombourne's unbeaten start to the season came crashing down as they were brought back down to Earth with a bang after a thrashing at the hands of Fordhouses.

After winning the toss and batting, the home side found themselves in trouble at 76-5, and they were never able to recover as they were bowled out for 137 in the 41st over.

The Fordhouses bowlers shared the wickets around with Sachin Jayawardena taking 3-13 from eight overs. Mubeen Rashid, Lewis Peat and Adam Peat all took two apiece.

The visitors then made light work of getting the runs they required. Jayawardena, the man to star with the bat this time, made 65 not out from the 52 balls he faced.

Tamworth seconds are just below the leaders Hammerwich in the table, but they lost the battle of the Birmingham League second teams at the weekend as they were beaten by Wolverhampton.

Amritpal Singh and Louis Walker both made 88 for Wolves as they amassed 317-9 from their allocation. Ryan Hughes took 3-56 for Tamworth.

The hosts had a decent go at chasing the big total down as they made it to 309 before they were eventually bowled out in the final over of the innings. Kieran Wordsworth was the man to top score. He made 84 from 76 balls, but his effort was in vain as they fell eight runs short of the target.

Beacon picked up their third victory of the season with a comfortable triumph over Lichfield. James Fildes (81 off 115) and Max Lee (60 off 68) put together a 113-run stand for the third wicket partnership, which was the big reason the hosts made 279-7 from their allocation.

The returning Jake Cartwright took 3-32 from his 10 overs in the reply as Lichfield fell 108 runs short of the target required. Asif Rajah, who made 67 from 87 balls, made the only notable contribution.

An unbeaten 111 from Sahal Malvernkar saw Milford Hall get the better of Penkridge.

The hosts had earlier posted a competitive total of 249-6 thanks to half centuries from Andy Jones (79) and Amaan Hassan (68), but Milford reached that total with nine balls to spare, with three wickets left in the shed.

Walsall have lost four out of four after they were beaten by Pelsall on Saturday.

Pelsall made 215-9 from the 50 overs, and Walsall were bowled out for 160 in reply - Jack Portsmouth took 3-14.
