Staffordshire suffer NCCA Trophy elimination after defeat
Staffordshire suffered a third successive defeat after losing against Norfolk by eight wickets at Sprowston Cricket Club, as they were eliminated from the NCCA Trophy.
Norfolk won the toss and elected to field, as they bowled Staffordshire out for 194 inside 46 overs.
Michael Hill high-scored for Staffordshire with 51 runs - including six 4s and one 6, while Matthew Morris struck 40 and Sam Atkinson chipped in with 17.
Brett Stolworthy and Joe Everett took three wickets apiece for Norfolk who were left chasing 195 on the bat.
They made easy work of it thanks in most part to Sam Arthurton's 101 century from 122 balls.
Arthurton was in inspired form for the hosts, hitting a whopping 15 4s to propel Norfolk into the driving seat.
Finlay Wilcox struck 34 and Ethan Metcalf chipped in with an unbeaten 37 before Benjamin Wilcox (12 not out) helped them over the line.
Staffordshire only managed to take two wickets in the process as Norfolk finished the innings at 196/2.
They needed to win and hope that Shropshire and Herefordshire lost to stand any chance of qualifying for the quarter-final.
That defeat leaves them in fourth-place on just two points.
