Charlie Lakin opened the scoring for Walsall in the 81st-minute before Armando Dobra equalised deep into stoppage time.
Walsall immediately went up the other end where Levi Amantchi scored a dramatic last-gasp winner to cue scenes of pandemonium inside Bescot.
The Saddlers booked their place at Wembley for just the second time in the club's history and will play in a play-off final for the first time in 24 years.
When asked where this achievement ranks, Sadler said: "Right at the very top for me because it's different.
"When you're playing, you think about yourself. When you're managing, you think about everybody else but yourself.
"So to have everyone enjoy that tonight. Families, friends, everyone, it's everything to me.
