If you exclude their infamous 6-2 drubbing against Fleetwood Town in October, Walsall leaked an average of just 0.6 goals per 90 during the first 23 games.

That figure increased exponentially to 1.48 in the second half of the campaign, with only Newport County (38) and relegated Carlisle United (36) shipping more in that time.

However, Sadler has reverted to the defensive trident of David Okagbue, Harry Williams and Taylor Allen, after tinkering with his back-line in recent weeks and is now reaping the reward.

Walsall have fielded the same defensive trio for the past five games and have rediscovered their solidity at the back as a result.
