Aston Villa boss Unai Emery gives key Marcus Rashford injury update
Unai Emery has confirmed Marcus Rashford won’t play for Villa again this season as the forward remains out with a hamstring injury.
Friday night’s visit of Tottenham was the 27-year-old loan star’s last opportunity to play, as he cannot face parent club Manchester United on the final day of the campaign.
But Rashford is still recovering from the injury he sustained prior to last month’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace.
Midfielder Youri Tielemans remains out with a muscle problem, while Jacob Ramsey is suspended after his sending-off in last weekend’s win at Bournemouth.
Emery said: “Youri and Marcus tomorrow, they are not available, and Jacob Ramsey is suspended.
“We have to have to do each step forward, testing and analysing how they are recovering.
"I don't know sat if they will available physically (next week), because Marcus can't play next week.
"They are working on that in the facilities, every day and they are feeling better."
Rashford, who headed out to Dubai with a member of Villa’s coaching staff in a bid to speed up his recovery, has been working in the Bodymoor Heath gym.
While unable to train, he will remain at Villa until the expiry of his loan deal, as he bids to be fit in time for next month’s England internationals.
Villa have a £40million option to buy Rashford in the summer but a decision on whether to trigger it will not be taken until the end of the season.
