Grand Slam champion joins Birmingham tennis line-up for 2025
Former US Open champion and Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic is heading to Birmingham this summer.
The Croat - now 36 - is on the entry list for the Lexus Birmingham Open at Edgbaston Priory Club, which takes place from May 31 until June 8.
He joins home favourites Dan Evans and Billy Harris in the first men's tournament, which will kick off the grass court season.
Cilic, who has been ranked as high as No.3 in the world, claimed his sole grand slam success at Flushing Meadows at 2014 - three years before he made the Wimbledon final in 2017, where he lost to Roger Federer in straight sets.
He is also a former grass court winner on the ATP Tour, having won the Queen's Club tournament in 2018.
France’s Quentin Halys is the highest-ranked player to enter this year’s tournament, currently sitting at a career-high 52 in the world after a 2025 that has included him reaching his first ATP 500 semi-final in Dubai.
Sonny Kartal, Harriet Dart and Ajla Tomljanovic were among those who had already been announced on the women's side last week.
Kirsty Thomson, tournament director of the Lexus Birmingham Open, said: “We’re delighted to confirm a really strong line-up for the men’s draw at this year’s Lexus Birmingham Open, adding to last week’s announcement of the WTA draw.
"Welcoming players of Dan Evans’ and Marin Cilic’s calibre to the opening event of the British grass court summer – and the first men’s grass court event to be held in the city – means fans can look forward to some brilliant action on the courts at the Edgbaston Priory Club.”
Centre Court tickets start from £17, with grounds admission tickets starting from £12 for adults and kids for free. All tickets can be purchased on the LTA website.
