Regarded as one of the best technical directors in English football - Ashworth, Albion's former academy manager, oversaw a highly successful period during his time at West Brom.
He and his recruitment team helped Albion establish themselves in the Premier League for eight seasons with a string of signings over a number of campaigns.
He left Albion to join the FA, and now after similar roles with Brighton, Newcastle and an ill-fated few months with Manchester United, he is heading back to the FA to head up some big areas for the association.
He is soon to be unveiled as the head of elite men's and women's development - having previously been in charge of both teams, as well as coaching and education from 2012 to 2018.
Part of Ashworth's new role will be to oversee the development of home grown coaches. The area is a big issue for the FA, with only two current permanent Premier League managers being home grown.
Ashworth is also set to be tasked with overseeing the next stage of the refurbishment of England's St George's Park base.
