Brighton chairman gives European verdict ahead of Wolves clash
Brighton chairman Tony Bloom insists he has not given up on securing a European place for next season ahead of their trip to Wolves.
Fabian Hurzeler's side travel to Molineux on Saturday after losing some ground in their European race last weekend, when Alexander Isak's late penalty denied them all three points against Newcastle.
The Seagulls have an outside chance of getting into Europe for next season but must leave Wolverhampton with a positive result with just three games remaining.
And while Bloom felt they could still achieve it, he has also warned fans to be careful with their expectations.
He said: “The Premier League is the toughest and best football league in the world, there is no doubt about that.
"Every game you have got to be on it, otherwise you are going to come unstuck.
"Hopefully we get top 10 and maybe more.
"We still have hopes of finishing in Europe this season.
"That is what we will be aiming for in the next three games.
"But it just goes to show how far the club has come that some of us, myself included, had hopes of doing even better.
"That really shows how far we have come as a club.
"Three big games to finish this season and we have got big hopes again for next season."
Brighton currently sit 10th in the Premier League and have won just once in their last seven top flight games.
That was a comeback 3-2 win over struggling West Ham, while they have lost to Villa, Palace and Brentford in that time.
As well as targeting a European place, Brighton will be wary of the teams below them.
Wolves cannot catch them up as they 11 points adrift, but Fulham are just one point behind and Palace are six behind coming into the latter stages of the season.
