After Beacon won the toss and put their hosts into bat, Wombourne amassed 325-6 from their 50 overs.

Hill, who made 109 against Walsall the week before, smashed 133 from 145 balls in an innings which included 17 fours and five sixes.

He was well supported by Jack Hussey, who made 85 at better than a run a ball, and Nathan Howell, who smashed 55 from 28 balls late on.

In reply, Beacon slipped to 16-2, but recovered as they made it to 255 before they were bowled out - Ollie Green made 84.

Wombourne’s wickets were shared out as Ollie Siviter, Charlie Walker, Ben Hudson, and skipper Zachary Smith took two apiece.

Reigning champions Fordhouses have started the season well. Like Wombourne, they got their second consecutive victory with a 65-run triumph at Pelsall.

Batting first, Fordhouses made 258-5 from their allocation, thanks largely to Sachin Jayawardena - who made 101 off 103 balls. Smit Mehta took 4-30 for Pelsall.

During the chase, the hosts were going well at 96-1, with Gurshan Singh (53) and Jamie Holmes (51) both making half-centuries. They then slipped to 149-7 before eventually being bowled out for 193.

Jayawardena capped off a fine all-round day by taking 4-32 for Fordhouses with the ball.

Hammerwich have also won two from two. They beat Wolverhampton seconds by 129 runs on Saturday.

They smashed 327-4 from their 50 overs, with Benjamin Novis making 101, while Tom Wright (70), Callum Brodrick (60), and Scott Elstone (63) all passed 50.

Wolverhampton struggled to get going in response, and they eventually slumped to 198 all out.

The final side to maintain their 100 per cent winning record and be joint top of the table was Tamworth seconds. They beat Lichfield by eight wickets.

Tamworth won the toss and elected to field, and they restricted Lichfield to 205-9, with James Cooper returning the best figures of 3-32.

The hosts then made light work of the chase, which was dominated by Daniel Baker after he made a 98-ball 124, including 18 fours. He was well supported by Sam Kinson, who made 52 not out.

Milford Hall picked up their first win of the campaign by beating Walsall by eight runs in a nail biter.

Milford batted first and made 263-6 with Ibbadat Thaman making 62. In the reply, there was a 134-run partnership between former Milford captain Dan Betty (83) and William Mashinge (98) which took Walsall close - but they eventually ended on 255-7 - eight runs short.

Penkridge got their season under way with a 71-run victory at Cannock. It was a low-scoring game, and the visitors managed to make 197-9 after being put into bat. Joel Bannister top scored with 47 from 85 balls while Ryan Pearce took 3-24 for the hosts.

Cannock never got going in the chase, and they were bowled out for 126 - Jack Pope (3-38) and William Marsh (3-18) were the stars with the ball.
