The Birmingham City loanee scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road which put the Saddlers on the brink of automatic promotion.

They remained third until the final seconds when Bradford City pipped them to the post with a 96th-minute winner against Fleetwood Town at Valley Parade.

The victory at Crewe ended a 13-match winless run and Hall is eager to use the "disappointment" of missing out on the final day as fuel heading into their two-legged semi-final against Chesterfield.

He said: "Everyone is feeling the same. Disappointment but I think we gave it our all today, it just wasn't our day.

"Even though I scored, I kind of knew that it wasn't in our hands still.

"We've just got to use that as fuel now to use that momentum and help us get through the play-offs.

"Because we got that win, we can use that [as a positive]. We've been playing a lot better over the past few games but haven't got the results.

"Having that win definitely means a lot because it's a been a long time. We've got that belief now that we can get the results again.

Walsall travel to the Technique Stadium for the first leg on Saturday, before welcoming Chesterfield to Bescot for the final leg on Friday, May 16.
