The Baggies relegated the Hatters, who have suffered back-to-back drops from the top flight to the third tier, with a 5-3 victory at The Hawthorns.
Striker Daryl Dike marked his first league start in 750 days with a goal as Tom Fellows and Callum Styles fired the first two-goal hauls of their careers.
The doomed visitors struck back twice in the closing stages to make the scoreline look closer but it was some rare joy for Albion in what has been a desperate finale to the Championship season, where Albion slumped out of play-off contention to finish ninth.
For former midfield hero Morrison it was the second and final clash of his caretaker stint and the first-team coach was pleased to round off his stint with a home victory. Having drawn a blank in the stalemate at Cardiff last weekend, Morrison had been hopeful for more in the final third - an area that has blighted Albion all season, having drawn 19 games and scored just 57 goals, including 5-3 and 5-1 wins.
"It certainly was (nice to end with a win)," Morrison said. "I asked the lads to get us a positive result and take it into the summer.
"I thought we were really good in the final third and that's what we've been lacking.
"I thought we were a threat every time we went forward. We were disappointed with the timing of their (first) goal but we reacted well.
"Once we made the changes the game changed. It got a last-game-of-the-season feel. I was a bit disappointed we let them back in because I felt we could've gone on to score more."
Morrison, who has also served as a youth coach at Albion, added: "I thought our shape caused them problems, they took a while to get used to it. They went from back five to four at half-time. Our attacking players were top class today."
The Baggies finished the season ninth in the Championship, four points adrift of the play-offs.
Albion's squad returned to the field after full-time for a lap of appreciation in front of those still in place at The Hawthorns.
For some - namely out-of-contract trio Semi Ajayi, Grady Diangana and John Swift - it was a farewell with their exits to be confirmed in the coming days. There are others unlikely to remain at the club beyond the summer.
Morrison smiled as he admitted next up for him was a cold beer following an intense fortnight or so as caretaker following Tony Mowbray's sacking.
"Well I'll probably have a beer now and relax because I've been stressed! That's where I'm at," he said. "I've had no communications, I've just been asked to do a job and we'll see what happens.
"I fully don't know (about future role) it's not been brought up. We're in tomorrow (Sunday) for a little debrief and we'll go from there."
Dike stole the show from a Baggies' perspective on just his 16th league start for the club in almost three-and-a-half injury-tormented years.
He climbed to convert a powerful header from Styles' cross to make it 2-1 to the hosts before laying on a fine assist for Fellows' second and three.
"I thought his all-round game was good," Morrison added. "I asked him to fight the centre-backs, use his physicality, cause them problems and he did that.
"I felt in the first half we could've played into him more. We turned him down quite a lot.
"I'm really happy, he's been knocking on the door and had to be patient. A big thank you to the medical staff who've managed him right and hopefully next year he takes that."
