The head coach is eager to finish the final three games of the season well, but he also has one eye on the summer and the direction he must take this team.

With a clear strategy and idea of the kind of players he wants - both from a technical perspective and personality point of view - his challenge will be balancing the side.

Matheus Cunha is expected to depart with a £62.5million release clause in his contract and while there will be money to spend, owners Fosun are expected to continue their self-sustaining policy in the transfer window.

That means Wolves must be clever about the players they sign and those they let go.

“If it’s possible, I want to keep almost the whole squad," Pereira said.

"Of course, at the end of the season, you will find some players are not happy because they are not playing and they want to play.

“There will be players who want to move, we’ll have players that maybe in the way we are playing, they feel they haven’t got the space to play.

“So we need to have an honest conversation, putting everything on the table and to have decisions.
