The former West Brom academy graduate signed for Villa from Middlesbrough for £8m back in January 2024 - a deal that will rise to £15m with add ons.

He made an instant impact at Villa Park, and so far in his first full campaign has netted 14 goals in all competitions.

On Tuesday, reports emerged that Rogers is being eyed up by Chelsea, who are keen to bolster their front line and see Rogers, who was handed his England debut last year, as a possible option.

The Independent have reported that Chelsea are looking to take advantage of clubs who may have to deal with more profit and sustainability issues this summer by selling off players.

Villa do not want to sell Rogers - and former Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes there should be no consideration given to a deal for Rogers.

He went on to say if Chelsea were to firm up their interest, then a £100m minimum price tag would have to be in place.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "For Villa to go to the next level, they should be able to spend more money.

"They will have to find ways of making more, but when it comes to stars and talking about Morgan Rogers, there are just some players you do not sell.

"They had to make decisions last summer with the likes of Douglas Luiz and Diaby, who you don't want to sell but you sacrifice those.

"But there are players in the squad where you would just say no. Martinez, no, Konsa, no, Morgan Rogers, no.

"There may be other players to sacrifice but not Morgan Rogers.

"And what would Morgan Rogers cost now, £100m as a starter and then you are talking add ons and stuff.

"I don't think Chelsea with their PSR problems will be able to afford that."

Last summer Villa had to move on some of their key players to meet the Premier League's PSR rules, with Moussa Diaby heading to Saudi Arabia and Douglas Luiz to Juventus.

This summer, it is not known now much Villa may have to raise if they are to face PSR issues, but Agbonlahor believes there may be a decision to make over another Villa forward if they do need to move players on.

He added: "Ollie Watkins has done outstanding, but he is age of 30 now. Do they say, if we can get £40m or £50m for Watkins, it helps with PSR to then invest again. You don't want him to leave because he is an outstanding striker."
