Spaniard Cifuentes is coming to an end of his second season at the helm at Loftus Road and has won admirers for his work in West London amid at times trying circumstances.
There were reports last week the 42-year-old was dissatisfied at factions of the R's hierarchy and could cast glances towards an exit with vacancies at The Hawthorns, as well as Norwich and elsewhere available.
Cifuentes brushed off suggestions he was looking to leave at the end of last week but it was claimed over the weekend Albion decision-makers held talks with the Spanish coach's representatives.
For the Baggies to hold official talks with Cifuentes they would need permission by QPR and any pursuit has not reached that stage. Albion are not expected to make a quick appointment - though will not hang around if they believe they have found their man - and will likely see which targets become available as seasons draw to a close around the continent.
"Not so far, I don't know, why should I?" Cifuentes told West London Sport when asked if he was looking to quit the club.
Asked of his upcoming talks with the R's hierarchy, he added: "I guess it's a regular things you will discuss with a football club at the end of the season. So for me it's very natural to sit with the owners and CEO to do a balance (review) of the season, as I will do with my players and staff.
"This is the moment you need to review the things that have gone well and might be improved and to align with what's next."
The Express & Star reported last week Albion are thought to be looking towards a younger head coach after the failed appointment of Tony Mowbray. Cifuentes, who has a CV similar with that of former boss Carlos Corberan, fits the mould.
Cifuentes and his assistant Xavi Calm last September signed new long-term deals at Loftus Road, the specifics of which were not disclosed.
QPR, who are 15th and secured Championship safety a number of weeks ago, finished their home campaign over the weekend with a 5-0 drubbing by champions-elect Burnley.
"I said before that as long as I'm wanted, I'm very happy," he said after the heavy defeat.
"The way the fans have been supporting me, it makes me feel that I want to give them something back even more than the last two seasons.
"In any case I am very calm about the job I have done and the fact that we have achieved what were difficult targets."
Cifuentes spoke last week about his pride in introducing a number of young players into the first-team squad while working under financial fair play restraints in west London.
His side endured a miserable start to the Championship season and failed to win until late November. From there the Hoops embarked on a consistent run of wins until February before a stutter to the finish line. They lost 1-0 to the 10 men of Mowbray's Albion at The Hawthorns last month.
Albion, under Bilkul, will continue to operate under financial limitations as the owners realign the club's spending with a fifth season in the Championship and strict financial fair play restrictions. Major earners in the playing squad will leave this summer as the decision-makers seek a fresher and more ambitious squad of more value.
