Snooker round-ups: Twentieth century scored this season in West Midlands League

Daniel Ward got the 20th century of the Staffordshire & West Midlands Snooker season as Charlemont Bowling Club beat Sedgley WMC 3-2.

Ward made a 101 break to seal his second ton of the Division One season, helping his side to leapfrog opponents Sedgley into eighth place with the final league fixture of the season.

His opening frame win was equalised by Stuart Pritchard for Sedgley. Chris Compton got a 59 break to reclaim the lead, before Richard Davies took the game to a decider. John Spencer succeeded in the final frame for Charlemont.

Already-crowned champions Hotshots finished the season 13 points clear of second-placed Poets Corner A, with both sides winning their final fixtures 4-1.

They condemned Townsend Social to the relegation places. Callum Downing’s frame win earned him the Division One most-wins award.

Poets beat third-placed Stafford Institute, despite Robert Wharne’s 61 break opener for Stafford.

Landywood B secured safety on the final day with a 4-1 win against bottom-side Bilston Sports & Social.

Bilston Bowling Club made the final relegation place also losing 4-1 to Shifnal War Memorial A.

Division Two’s Baggeridge Social Club were two points from safety ahead of condemning their opponents, Willenhall Liberal, to relegation with a tense 4-1 triumph. Wolverhampton Electric were also relegated after losing 4-1 to Landywood C.

Aldridge League

Wednesfield Cons’ Lee Bannister lost his third frame of the season to go level with Callum Downing in the race for the Aldridge & District Snooker Premier League most-wins trophy.

Fourth-placed Cons beat bottom-side Bloxwich Sports 3-2, with Colin Kettlewell beating Bannister in the fourth frame to take the match to a decider, which Simon Gough won.

Oliver Spooner and Andy Price won Cons’ other frames, while Dave Hill won one for Bloxwich.

Jack Harris opened Bloxwich Memorial A’s 3-2 win against Poets Corner B with a 70 break, before Joshua Walker and Alan Hathaway added to the win which keeps them third.

Second-placed Pelsall Social A got a whitewash 5-0 win against second-bottom Dartmouth Central thanks to Steve Smart, Nathan Aston, Simon Groves, Paul Harrison and Adrian Rosa.

Rosa’s 62 break leaves him one win behind Downing and Bannister for the most-wins award.

First-placed Hotshots beat an undermanned Old Hall B side 3-2 to remain top, while Stafford Institute climbed to 15th despite losing 3-2 to Poets C.

Bentley Moor B closed the gap to Division One leaders Aldridge Cons C to nine points, as they beat Rushall Labour B 4-1, while Cons C lost to their A team 3-2.
