Staffordshire win friendly cricket match against Wales
Staffordshire County Cricket Club won their friendly against Wales by five wickets.
Wales bat first and gained some early momentum with Mathew Ryan (22), Nathanael Scott (25), William Ryan (29), Dan Evans (30) and Jac Kennedy (32) all adding to the score.
Ben Beaver (49no) ended their spell, as the team finished their 50 overs in form, recording 233-7.
Matthew Morris stood out for Staffordshire by claiming three wickets, while Amaan Tariq took two and Reeve Evitts and James Kettleborough took one each.
Kettleborough (37) and Ethan Berlusconi (39) gave Staffordshire a strong start when they took to the bat, alongside 21 runs from Alfie Bonehill, 15 from Niall McHale, 12 not out from Ryan Roberts and five from Evitts.
But it was Morris - fresh from claiming three wickets - that inspired the win with 83 not out.
He dragged Staffordshire over the line to finish on 235-5 in 43.1 overs and record a friendly win.
Staffordshire will now turn their attention to the NCCA Trophy Group 2, as they face their opening game on Sunday.
They will host Herefordshire, who started their campaign with a loss to Shropshire by six wickets.
They then host Suffolk the following day.
