Emi Martinez 6

Had no chance with the opening goal but could have arguably got something on the second although it was rifled by Sarr. Third had no chance. Aside from the chances, didn't really have a save to make but Palace were clinical.

Matty Cash 6

Got caught a few times down the Palace left in the first half, but offensively was involved and did play a part in a chance for Asensio late in the first half. In the second, his cross led to a decent McGinn chance. Lashed wide late on with Villa chasing the game.

Ezri Konsa 5

Caught out for a disallowed Mateta goal in the first half, and then done all ends up by the forward on the left flank. Almost headed Villa level in the first half, but endured a tough afternoon and was outpaced for the Palace third late on.

Pau Torres 5

His awful attempt to clear the ball in the build-up to the Palace opener proved costly for Villa. Almost made up for it immediately after as he headed over the bar. In the big moments, Mateta and the Palace forwards got the better of the Villa backline

Lucas Digne 6

Involved in some decent moves down the left and put in a teasing cross in the first half that led to a big Rogers chance. Went really close in the second half with a super looping volley that was kept out by Henderson.

Youri Tielemans 5

Couldn't make much of an impact in the first half as Palace hit Villa on the break. His loose pass then led to the second goal, before he was softly bundled off the ball and robbed in the build-up to the third strike.

Boubacar Kamara 5

Another who endured a difficult afternoon at the office. Could have arguably cut out the pass that found Eze for the opener. And then he could have absolutely no complaints about his tackle for the penalty. It was clumsy and it was costly.

Morgan Rogers 5

Had the first big chance of the game for Villa as he dragged a volley wide, but throughout despite showing flashes he just couldn't make an impact on the game.

John McGinn 6

All action early on as he linked the play and tried to get Villa on the front foot after Palace started better. Did just about enough to put Mitchell off when it looked like a certain second in the first half. Drew a top stop from Henderson in the second half when Villa were well on top.

Marco Asensio 6

Tidy enough and had a half chance down the right hand side when slipped in inside the six yard box. Like many of his Villa team mates though, just couldn't make enough of an impact to change the game.

Ollie Watkins 6

Worked hard throughout the game but Villa didn't hardly carve anything out in the way of clear cut chances for the forward. Looked kind of isolated at times and was snuffed out by the Palace defenders.

Substitutes

60 - Ian Maatsen for Digne 5

Involved down the left hand side and put in a handful of crosses.

69 - Ross Barkley for Kamara 5

Couldn't have any sort of impact on the game.

69 - Jacob Ramsey for Asensio

Had an instant impact as he came off the pitch, driving Villa forward in search of getting back in the game.
