John Doolan sends Accrington Stanley warning ahead of Walsall trip
Accrington Stanley boss John Doolan has warned his players that they cannot afford to rest on their laurels in the League Two relegation battle ahead of the trip to Walsall tomorrow.
The Lancashire outfit need just one-point from their remaining two games to guarantee their Football League status, with six points currently separating them from the relegation zone.
They missed a prime opportunity to secure safety when they were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation rivals Carlisle United on Easter Monday.
Stanley have dropped 21 points from winning positions this term and Doolan feels that is a key reason why they're battling at the bottom end of the table.
He said: "It's got to be done mathematically. We should be further up the table, but the reality is that we aren't.
"We are where we are, Tranmere are where they are, Carlisle are where they are and Morecambe are where they are for obvious reasons.
"It's been a learning process. The lads that have come in, the club itself and it can only make us stronger.
"But you have to do the basics and work really hard because this club has always been a really hard working team.
"That will put them in good stead going forward."
