When Harriers were relegated to the national League North last season, Brown set his sights on returning the club to the fifth tier as soon as possible. At Southport tomorrow, the league-leaders will look to go 14 matches unbeaten and claim the title to achieve that goal.

Thousands of Harriers fans are expected to make the trip to Mersyside with Harriers entering the clash level on points with Brackley Town, but ahead by 22 goals on goal difference.

Boss Brown is no stranger to success having led Hull City to the top flight for the first time in their history and Southend to League One. And, after saving Hull from relegation in May 2009, he famously sang on the pitch - and hopes he can once again break into song in celebration this weekend.

Asked if he will be on the mic if Kidderminster secure the title and promotion, he said: "All day long, absolutely.

"It’s the ultimate goal to get automatic promotion and win the championship. To finish top of the pile would be a brilliant achievement.

"A lot of people acquaint that to budgets. But, I don’t whatsoever. The financial side of the game is a vastly important part of it, but pulling together knowledge and information and putting a plan in place and getting the players to do it is the most rewarding part.

"Hopefully it will be a year we can look back on with a lot of pride and admiration from and for the team because we will have achieved what we set out to. It’s one to go, I’m not jumping the gun, we just need to win that and if we do then we will have the biggest party ever that Kidderminster has ever had."

Prior to their unbeaten run, Harriers had slipped out of the play-off places and adrift of top-spot. But, after gathering momentum at the end of the season they have propelled themselves to the summit.

Scunthorpe United could also claim the title, but they rely on Kidderminster and Brackley losing.

"The emotions are in tact at the moment, what they will be like at 5pm on Saturday I have no idea," he added. "The players are keeping my feet on the ground because of the performances they have been putting in .In the last two months they have been outstanding in taking on board everything. My thought process is all about being able to handle the pressure.

"The players know what it means to win the game. If we don’t, we know we are extending the season by three weeks. We know what it at stake and I think that information, knowledge and simple message is making them more relaxed and focused. And, when they are, I am.

"I have worked in some good backroom teams, at Bolton we were incredibly ahead of the game in the early 2000s but I think the backroom staff here is something to be admired. It’s a management made in heaven, the credit lies with the players but the backroom staff need to take a lot too."

Elsewhere, relegated Rushall Olympic host Chorley while in the Southern Central Premier, Halesowen Town visit Stamford and Stourbridge go to Bedford Town.
