Teenager wins Ministox title at Hednesford
A Staffordshire teenager has become the English Open champion in Ministox.
Kai Rushby, 15, from Wheaton Aston, triumphed in the full-contact 1000cc series - raced on shale and tarmac ovals - overtaking three cars in one move on the final lap to clinch it in dramatic style.
The English Open was run over two days with all drivers racing two out of three qualifying heats at Buxton and then two heats at Hednesford.
The points from both meetings were added up and the the top points scorers start at the front, with Rushby starting the 20-lap final on the outside of row three.
He worked his way up to third by lap three and was reeling the leaders in until he took the lead on less than lap eight.

This lasted less than a lap as he was knocked wide again, but there was then a caution for a stranded car and this brought the cars back together again.
After the restart, Rugby dropped down to sixth position and then worked his way back into contention right up to the last lap where he was running in fourth position.
The drivers in second and third position went in hard on the leader and Rushby came up on the inside and overtook them all on a drag race to the line to become English Open 2025 champion.
