Rosa battles back to win 6 Reds Handicap title

Adrian Rosa came from behind three times across the Aldridge & District Snooker League 6 Reds Handicap semi-final and final to win both rounds 4-2 and take the title.

Rosa defeated Stephen Lloyd in the semi-final after going 2-0 down. He levelled for 2-2, before earning a key snooker in frame five to turn the game around and hit a 49-break for the final frame.

Steve Smart, the 6 Red runner-up, beat Dan Ward 4-0 in his semi-final, before leading the final 1-0 and 2-1. Rosa, however, hit a 45-break in frame four, won on the black in five and sealed the title in frame six.

In the Premier League, Hotshots cut Bloxwich Memorial out of the title race, winning 4-1 and going six points clear at the top of the table.

Shots dominated from the start, going 3-0 up through Neil Beckley, Callum Downing and Luke Higginbotham. Jack Harris got breaks of 41 and 36 to reduce the deficit, before the league-leaders’ Jamie Brown won the final frame.

Wednesfield Cons are now only two points behind Bloxwich after a stunning 4-1 win against Old Hall B.

Ade Holmes equalised for Old Hall after Oliver Spooner’s opening-frame win, however, Lee Bannister’s 44-break put Cons back in front.

Dan Horton looked like levelling again but Simon Gough got two snookers and won on the black to get the win for Cons.

Old Hall’s loss meant Poets Corner A and B both climbed eighth and seventh respectively.

Poets A beat Rushall Labour A 4-1 thanks to wins from Craig Rooker, Pommy Kang, Dave Blunt and Adam Hartshorn, while the B team lost to the Cs 3-2. Andy Tapper, Andel Clarke and Tom Burgess won for Poets C.

Landywood A climbed to fifth with a 3-2 win at Bentley Moor A. Matt Warrilow and Rob Brown kept Landywood in contention, before Dave Turner won the decider.

Beechdale Social beat second-bottom Stafford Institute 3-2, while Old Hall A beat bottom side Bloxwich Sports 3-1.

Aldridge Cons C are 12 points clear at the top of Division One with four games remaining after a 4-1 success against struggling Q Bar A, courtesy of Steve Mullett, Stewart Baker, Lee Dennant and Peter Maloney.

Old Hall C won a 5-0 whitewash against Norton Vic at the foot of the table. Alan Killian, Steve Mapp, Ryan Maritza, Carl Robotham and Barry Hodson all won for the 13th-placed side.
