Winger Wallace has been sidelined with a calf problem since the draw at Millwall on February 15 but has been in training for the best part of a week and head coach Mowbray ruled him ready to be in contention to face the Sky Blues.

The 31-year-old scored his first goal of the season under Mowbray in the rout of Portsmouth but was ruled out for eight weeks shortly after with the muscle problem away at The Den against his former club.

Mowbray is optimistic the experienced winger's driven personality and quality will be important for Albion in the final four games of the season, beginning with a huge clash against sixth-placed Coventry where the visitors can climb into the play-off places with a win.

"I think Jed's got a chance of sitting on the bench and seeing whether he can impact the game," Mowbray said of Wallace.

"It's interesting having Jed back on the pitch, having a real personality and a voice and no shortage of talent. Everything is crisp and snappy with him,  it's good to have him back training."

Defender Semi Ajayi has been missing through injury for a similar period having picked up his second hamstring issue of the season.

Ajayi returned from a number of months on the sidelines at Millwall in February, but broke down with a muscle problem in the next game at home to Oxford.

The Nigerian, who is also 31, trained for the first time on Wednesday but the game at Coventry is expected to come too soon for his involvement.

"Semi trained today as well, it was one of his first days," Mowbray added. "I'm not sure he's at full pelt where he can be asked to sprint at the moment. He's back very close to being back involved."

Baggies duo Ousmane Diakite and Tammer Bany are yet to train this week, which means they are unlikely to feature against the Sky Blues.

They could play some part in training on Thursday, however, which would hand the pair an opportunity to feature at the sold-out CBS Arena on Good Friday. A more realistic option could be the visit of Derby to The Hawthorns on Easter Monday.

"I'm not sure, neither of them have trained today. As I've said they need to train the day before to play," said Albion's boss.

"Monday is almost too far down the line for me to think, they'd need to train on Sunday. At the moment they're not training. I'm not sure if they will train tomorrow.

"Let's wait and see. They will have a little fitness test and we'll decide if they can train if they're on the cusp of being there or not."
