Cunha returned from a four-match suspension as a substitute but made headlines 24 hours before the Spurs contest with cryptic social media posts, which were subsequently deleted.
There has been heavy speculation about the Brazilian's future at Molineux beyond this summer and a post on Instagram read "time to be happy. I will follow my dreams, not yours... so stay cool."
There was smatterings of boos from the home support as Cunha made his introduction at 3-1. Pereira's side conceded another to Ange Postecoglou's sloppy visitors before Cunha robbed Lucas Bergvall of possession and slotted home a cool fourth. He put his hands together and bowed to the home fans after finishing.
The Wolves head coach revealed he did not speak with the forward about the post specifically but said Cunha is someone who "like everybody" needs the "energy of love" and to 'feel important'. Pereira stressed and repeated he understand supporters' feelings.
Pereira said: "About the post I didn't speak (with him). I didn't speak because I cannot speak with everybody every time.
"But Cunha is a fantastic player. He proved it today, that he came to the pitch to help the team.
"He proved that he was committed with the team, with his team-mates, with the staff, with everybody.
"He is a special player. But like everybody, like me, he needs the energy of love. He needs to feel he is important, that the people recognise his work for the team.
"I honestly feel that he went on the pitch not to think about him, but to think about the team. He is part of our family.
"I understand the supporters, I understand the supporters - three times - I understand the supporters, but he is part of our family and together we get stronger and stronger if we are connected."
Cunha's social posts then continued with an interaction towards an independent Wolves support channel, including messages such as: "Do you know what you want? For people to not like me here, unfortunately I'm going to the field to solve the problem of your favourite club. I'm not here looking for alternatives to be someone important. Fans root for their own, they don't create misfortunes all the time."
Wolves, meanwhile, broke a couple of records in their impressive victory over the sorry visitors and the hosts' dominance was greater than 4-2 suggested.
Rayan Ait-Nouri's opener after 85 seconds was the quickest Wolves goal in Premier League history and a fourth straight victory was the first time the club have achieved that in the Premier League. It was last achieved in the top flight by Wolves in 1972.
Wolves climbed one place up from 17th for their highest position of the Premier League season.
An own goal by Djed Spence followed soon after before Spurs pulled one back through Mathys Tel. Jorgen Strand Larsen made it three and while Richarlison pounced for a Spurs second Wolves were good value for Cunha's fourth.
A jolly Pereira entered for his post-match press conference gesturing and emphasising "big smile - from here to here" across his face.
Asked about the record Premier League four straight wins, he replied: "Now we need to look for the fifth! The next game to win.
"This game was good, very good, but now we start to look for the next one.
"It was a Premier League game. It was like we are playing on the line - I like to feel this energy of a good game.
"The first half was difficult because they pressed a lot. The spaces were behind the line, we took some time to understand where to find the space. But after we started to understand when we are under pressure we can play long balls to win the second ball and play in offensive midfield.
"When we found that it was the way to create problems."
