The midfielder committed a foul late on in the game at Ashton Gate, and was immediately dismissed.
Albion lodged an appeal but it has been unsuccessful, meaning the Republic of Ireland international will now serve a three match ban.
He will return for the trip to Cardiff City later this month, in what will be Albion's final away game of the campaign.
Molumby's rejected appeal comes on the back of the news that midfielder Ousmane Diakite is a serious doubt for the clash against Watford on Saturday.
Diakite would have been a like for like replacement for Molumby, however having picked up an ankle ligament problem he looks unlikely to make it for the weekend.
That leaves Mowbray with Alex Mowatt as a midfield option - while the returning Isaac Price, who came back into the side in Bristol, could be in line to start in the centre of midfield.
