Lichfield City seal Midland Premier Division title in style
Lichfield City sealed the Midland Premier Division title with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Whitchurch Alport at Yockings Park.
Jamie Spiers opened the scoring for Lichfield just before the half-hour mark and Liam Kirton doubled their lead inside the first 60 seconds of the second half.
Callum Griffin added a third just four minutes from the end to secure the league championship with a game to spare.
Second-place Shifnal Town won 2-1 at home to Northwich Victoria but Lichfield kept their end of the bargain to lift the title.
Brocton capitalised on Alport's defeat by easing to a 4-1 home victory over Highgate United to extend the gap to six points in the final play-off spot.
Jude King bagged a brace and Jake Thomas and William Whieldon also got on the score sheet for Brocton, with Kyle Hayden scoring a consolation for Highgate, who were reduced to 10-men late on.
Matthew Funge scored a hat-trick to take his season tally to 21 goals while Harry Crook scored the other, as Dudley Town romped to a 4-0 victory over Tividale at the Guardian Warehousing Arena.
Stone Old Alleynians won 2-1 at relegated Wolverhampton Casuals courtesy of goals from Jack Bowater and Ollie Griffiths, with Charlie Swingwood scoring the only goal for the Cassies.
Meanwhile, OJM Black County lost 3-2 at Atherstone Town and Stourport Swifts were beaten 3-1 away from home against Romulus.
In Division One, Bilston Town saw their faint play-off hopes ended after falling to a 3-2 defeat against Lutterworth Athletic at the Queen Street Stadium.
Bilston went ahead through an own goal during the first half but a quickfire brace from Bradley Coleman either side of the hour-mark - including a superb goal from the halfway line for his second, saw Lutterworth take the lead.
Kai Cunningham doubled their lead in the 90th-minute before Aaron Weston pulled one back for Bilston deep into stoppage time.
Fourth-place Cradley Town made it back-to-back wins with a 1-0 success at Kirby Muxloe courtesy of Brad Ward's 58th-minute match winner.
Smethwick Rangers also registered successive wins with a 2-0 victory at Coventry Copsewood and Gornal Athletic won 1-0 at Allexton & New Parks with Ryan Piggott scoring the only goal.
Elsewhere, relegated Wednesfield suffered a 1-0 loss against Stapenhill at Maple Grove.
In the North West Division One South, Eccleshall booked their place in the play-offs after beating Cheadle Heath Nomads on the road.
Macauley Taylor broke the deadlock for Eccleshall in the 27th-minute before Alex May equalised for Cheadle Heath five minutes before half-time.
Thomas Messham secured maximum points from the spot 18 minutes from time as they confirmed their play-off spot following Ashville's 4-0 drubbing at Winsford United.
Relegated Wolverhampton Sporting stunned second-place Stafford Town with Sam Baxter scoring the only goal of the contest on 86 minutes in a 1-0 home win.
Meanwhile, Bewdley Town drew 2-2 at Wantage Town in the Hellenic League Division One to sit 10th in the table.
