They face Paris St Germain in the last eight first leg this week - travelling to Paris to try and defy the critics and cause and upset.
PSG are being backed as one of the favourites from the sides left in the competition - and former England international Rio Ferdinand believes you cannot look any further than the French side right now.
He said: "I think before a ball was kicked, I would have said Real Madrid, but seeing these knockout games, and the way PSG played Liverpool, and there was a big distance between the teams, especially in the first game, I’m going to go for PSG.
"It’s the first time I’ve looked at them seriously, and thought they’ve really, genuinely got the players, and the team, to beat any team in the competition. So I’m going to go for PSG."
However, the ex-Manchester United man does believe there is a little bit of hope for Villa but it all rests on what they do in the first leg this week.
He added: "I think the thing you need to look at is where’s the second leg? It’s at Villa Park.
"If they stay in the game in the first leg, and the game’s live when they get to Villa Park, we know what the atmosphere can be like.
"We saw PSG go to Newcastle last season, with Mbappe, and get obliterated. The atmosphere can change everything. I don’t care who your club is."
