Chris Hussey scored the decisive goal with an outstanding free-kick just before the hour-mark to all but confirm a play-off place for Hednesford.

The Pitmen sit 10 points clear of Stalybridge Celtic in sixth spot with four games left and remain five points adrift of league leaders Widnes.

Chasetown also strengthened their grip on the final play-off spot with a comprehensive 3-0 success over Wythenshawe.

Jack Langston opened the scoring inside 12 minutes and Joey Butlin took just five minutes to double their lead with a front post header.

Langston bagged his brace nine minutes after the restart with a powerful low shot which deflected into the net.

The Scholars maintained the five-point gap between themselves and sixth-place with a third successive home win.

Elsewhere, Stafford Rangers climbed into 12th-place with an incredible 8-0 demolition of City of Liverpool at the DCBL Stadium.

John Atherton started the rout midway into the first half before Dan Cockerline doubled their lead on the cusp of half-time.

Rangers ran riot in the second half with Ben O'Hanlon scoring a third just two minutes after the restart and Kaiman Anderson also getting in on the act.

Cockerline doubled his tally just after the hour-mark and Scott Wara, Joe Morley and Henry Brereton scored a flurry of late goals to rub salt into gaping wounds.

Stafford extended their unbeaten run to three (winning twice, drawing once) and moved seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Lye Town were left seven points adrift of safety in the Northern Division One Midlands after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Anstey Nomads.

Rhys Dolan scored directly from a corner to give the Nomads a 37th-minute lead and Oscar Tonge headed in a second in the dying stages.

The Flyers sit second from bottom in the table and have gone 15 games without a win.

Sporting Khalsa bounced back from their 5-0 drubbing against Corby Town with a 2-1 victory at Shepshed Dynamo to keep their faint play-off hopes alive.

Simeon Cobourne fired Khalsa into the lead just before the half-hour mark and doubled his tally three minutes from time.

Callum Burkey scored a late consolation for Shepshed but Sporting held out to stay within seven points of the play-off spots with two games in hand over fifth-place Worcester City.
